Event for kids

We teamed up with the Kiwi Conservation Club and fellow parasitologists to host a Parasites Event at the Zoology Department, University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand. Around 30 primary school children and their parents joined us for a fun and fascinating afternoon of hands-on science.

Highlights from the day:

• Find real parasites inside snails – yes, real ones! (facilitated by Dr. Ryota Hasegawa)

• Design your own parasite – let your imagination run wild! (facilitated by Dr. Anne Besson)

• Explore preserved specimens – discover how parasites live, grow, and survive. (facilitated by Dr. Jerusha Bennett)

• Why parasites matter – learn why these creatures are essential to ecosystems (not just “icky”!).

• Take the quiz: What parasite are YOU? (facilitated by Dr. Chenhua Li)
